Youtube won't let me embed this video!

So I guess I'll just link to it. This is a scene (an actual scene, not spliced together moments of the film) from the 1991 French black comedy Delicatessen. The film is quite odd, it's by the same director of Amelié (2001). If you think about it in the simplest terms, think about Sweeny Todd without the Sondheim Soundtrack. The film is worth seeing, and I highly recommend it.

Artist: Dolly Parton
Title: Don't Drop Out
Album: One Kiss Can Lead To Another: Girl Group Sounds Lost and Found
Year: N/A

I am not a huge fan of country music, but I am a huge fan of old girl groups songs, and this song just happens to be on a 4-disc compilation of girl-groups, and it's one of the better ones. Sorry I'm unsure of the year it was recorded, and I don't want to lie about that. When I figure it out, I'll write it in.

I'm sorry that I haven't been more consistent with doing 5 posts/day, but college is keeping me quite busy. I have decided to try something to help me keep on top of this blog, and also just set a "goal" for every day. Since I am in love with typography, and alphabets (not necessarily alphabetizing things, but... alphabets in general, I will pick one letter each day (maybe not in order of the English alphabet) and I will pick 5 pieces of art that start with that letter, or artists who have a last name that start with that letter. I hope this works out.

The letter of the day is D.

Artists: Salvador Dali, Walt Disney
Title: Destino
Year: started in 1945, released in 2003
Medium: Video/Animation/Cartoon
Run time: 6:30 (minutes)

One can only imagine that when Disney and Dali collaborate, the product can be slightly creepy, but because this animation is such a prized find, it is really worth watching. A few months ago, this video was only able to be viewed in a traveling exhibition of the work of Salvador Dali (which I was lucky enough to see), or by poorly shot camera-phone videos by people who were watching it. I am not sure when this official release came out, and I am almost certain that there is still no way to "officially" watch it, but this video allowed me to embed in my blog, so here you go.
One thing I love about this video as a whole, beyond the imagery and animation, is the music. I think the song is very beautiful, but I wish the Disney choir wasn't so prominent in the background. Oh well. Enjoy.
